Shazam’s Grace Caroline Currey spoke on her movie’s place in the new DCU.
Recently, DCU co-lead James Gunn announced part of thefirst Chapter of its new cinematic universe.
The slate included newSupermanandBatmanmovies andBooster GoldandGreen Lanternshows, among several other projects.
As exciting as these plans sound, they did put into question2023s slate of DC Comics films.
Do the likes ofShazamorThe Flashsimply not matter?
Will everything be completely reset?
But where does that leaveShazam and his family?

I am a fan of the DC universe and a bit of a comic book nerd myself…
So yeah, Im not in the conversations, of course.
You know, Im along for the ride.
And when they say, Grace, its time, Im there… Im really, really curious.
Im really interested to see what comes up with this slate.
So I, you know, of course, I daydream about playing any of the characters, right?
Like theyre all awesome.
And he pulled out his comics of Shazam and showed me pictures of her.
You worked with David and you worked with Peter.
This would be incredible.'
And I know the story.
And it was kind of an unusual feeling to sit there and go, This is new.
Of course, weve got some superhero fatigue going on.
But I, as a fan, I love this movie.
I love it so much.
I want to see more of what adventure the Shazam family goes on.
To put it simply, sheunderstand[s] the hesitancy.
So, what I would say is: Have your own opinion.
Give it a shot…
There is a lot of change with the DC Universe happening… And change is scary.
I think whenever theres change, people jump to the worst-case scenario.
But [Fury of the Godsis] genuinely good.
It is genuinely good and genuinely fun.
And I think also we need that, we need to go to the theaters.
You know, I think… its comic book movies and its wonder and delight.
And we got to go back to that heart and that feeling of these movies.
That[s] coming out.
I got to write a comic for that.
And Faithe Herman, she did one.
And my comic explores the doors a bit, which was kind of fun to dive into that.
Yeah, it was really cool.
My dad did the illustrating too.
He inked the comics.
So, it was really fun.
However, the same cant be said forHenry Cavills SupermanorDwayne Johnsons Black Adam.
Though, maybe now fans can one day see Billy Batson actually go upagainst his arch nemesis Teth-Adam.
That alone should probably make one think twice about keepingShazam!s continuity.
