Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier has clarified whether the upcoming MCU film is a Black Widow sequel.

But despite a stackedBlack Widow-centriccast, and previous claims aboutThunderbolts' sequel status, theThunderboltsdirector now says the opposite.
Its like its a ‘Black Widow’ sequel & these these movies are connected or something!
However, it’s also possible that Park was telling the truth, at the time.
Whether thisPhase 5film was originally supposed to beBlack Widow 2is unknown.
The bigger question now is when this movie will actually get underway.
Prior to the start of filming,Thunderboltsproduction was suspendeddue to the Writers Guild of America strike.
Untilthe WGA and now SAG-AFTRA strikesare resolved,Thunderbolts' production will remain paused.
Thunderboltsis currently slated to arrive in theaters on December 20, 2024.
