Two in-development Star Wars films have been scrapped by Lucasfilm.
The state of Star Wars' theatrical presence has been nonexistent since afterThe Rise of Skywalker.
Behind closed doors, it hasn’t been too great either.
As of now, there are only two movies that seem to have made any progress.
It looks like they remain the only Star Wars movies to be going anywhere.
As of May 2022, the movie was still alive and kickingthough it was clearly a losing battle.
The second axed film was none other than Patty Jenkin’sRogue Squadron.
Sadly, it doesn’t seem like it’ll all work out.
Two movies that are still in development includeTaika Waititi’sStar Wars film and one written by Damon Lindelof.
Will Lucasfilm Ever Release More Movies?
It is strange to think that Lucasfilm basically gave up on movies whenRise of Skywalkergot the reception it did.
Ever since then, the company has clung to Disney+, where they’ve nowput out four live-action shows.
But one day, they have to start making movies again… right?
Hopefully, it’ll be more than just title cardseven just the smallest amount of detail is great.
As for what the movies will be about, it’s nearly impossible to say at this point.
They could exist inMando’spoint of the timeline or potentially come afterEpisode 9, which is untouched territory.
There’s always the High Republic era, which is currently only being explored by Lucasfilm’s publishing side.
Then again, maybe the studio will be something entirely new and disconnected from what fans are familiar with.

The Mandalorianairs every Wednesday, only onDisney+.
