ATom Cruise-focused reboot occurred in 2017 that many agree was not the film they were hoping for.
A New Mummy Movie Starring Keanu Reeves?
This is thanks, in part, to its supposed star, the uber-fan-favoriteKeanu Reeves.
Additionally, this is not even the first instance of a bogusMummytrailer surfacing on the internet.
There was an attempt made at a new installment several years ago in 2017.
It starredMission: Impossiblesown Tom Cruise.
But not even Cruises magnetic box office draw was enough to get butts in theater seats andThe Mummyflopped hard.
The 2017 remake was also supposed to get Universals ill-fated Dark Universe off the ground.
The Dark Universe was intended to cash in on the interconnected bang out of storytelling popularized by Marvels MCU.
But Id be open to it if someone came up with the right conceit.
These include the Jonah Hill-directed comedyOutcomeand a fifth film in the now-iconicJohn Wickseries.
Where Have Universals Classic Monsters Been Lurking?
And there is nothing wrong with that.
Times change and pop culture changes in lockstep.
